FAQs

What is a midwife?

A Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is a nationally board-certified advanced practice nurse with a specialty in women’s health. CNMs care for women across their lifespans, from the first period to childbearing, menopause, and later into life. A midwifery model of care is gentle, woman-centered, individualized, and holistic.

Midwives perform comprehensive, holistic assessments, provide counseling and education, collaborate with patients to decide on treatments, order labs and prescription medications, and collaborate with other providers for comprehensive care.

Why see a midwife in midlife?

Midlife comes with big shifts in life, responsibilities, stressors, and the body, hormones, and mind. Midlife Midwife provides comprehensive, holistic, personalized care during this time of change so that you can continue to live strong and feel like your best self.

What makes seeing a midwife different than a traditional doctor?

Seeing a midwife means getting care focused on you as a whole person. Midwives spend time listening to your concerns and goals, offering education and support alongside medical care. This personalized approach ensures you're treated for symptoms and supported in overall wellness and lifestyle choices.

Can a midwife prescribe medication?

Yes, as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) licensed in Wisconsin, a midwife can prescribe medications, including hormone treatments. This means you can receive a comprehensive care plan that includes traditional medications and holistic wellness strategies.

How is Midlife Midwife MKE different?

Midlife Midwife MKE is a specialized women's health practice that provides expert care for menopause, perimenopause, and all aspects of gynecological and sexual health.

As an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) licensed in Wisconsin, I offer personalized hormone therapies and supplements. Additionally, I provide customized and realistic lifestyle adjustments to help you achieve your unique health goals and feel your best. I believe in taking a holistic approach to wellness, which involves seamlessly integrating traditional medications with wellness strategies.

How can I get started with a midwife for midlife health care?

Getting started is easy. Just reach out for an appointment to discuss your health concerns and goals. From there, you'll receive a tailored care plan that addresses your specific needs during midlife, whether that's managing menopause symptoms, hormonal imbalances, or other women's health issues.
